Legendary Enchantment Creature - God, 5/4, indestructible. As long as your devotion to white and black is less than seven, Athreos isn't a creature. Whenever another creature you own dies, return it to your hand unless target opponent pays 3 life. In practice this is an indestructible enchantment, which means it survives your own board wipes (Toxic Deluge, Damn, Farewell, The Meathook Massacre) and immediately starts rebuying what just died. Every trigger is lose-lose for the opponent: they pay 3 life, which is a drain event that Bloodthirsty Conqueror converts into lifegain for you (ticking Karlov and Archangel of Thune and checking the drain loops), or the creature returns to your hand. Triggers on creatures you OWN, so it fires on tokens too (they can't return, but the opponent still faces the 3-life tax). Teysa Karlov doubles it, presenting the choice twice per death. The recursion is to HAND, not the battlefield, so it is slower than direct reanimation and requires a recast.

2/2 Legendary Human Hero with deathtouch and lifelink. When it enters, choose target opponent and up to one target creature they control; they reveal their hand, and you may exile a nonland card from their hand OR the chosen creature until Cloak and Dagger leaves the battlefield. Three-way fit: the lifelink body is loop ignition (any combat hit is a lifegain event that fires Karlov, Archangel of Thune, and the Sanguine-half/Exquisite-half combo), deathtouch makes it trade with anything and discourages blocks, and the ETB is flexible interaction the WB shell is light on (exile their best creature OR strip a combo piece from hand). Replaces Dawn of Hope, which never got activated in practice (its token and pay--per-lifegain draw modes were always too mana-hungry to use on combo turns). Caveat: exile is until-leaves, so killing Cloak and Dagger returns the card.

5/5 indestructible enchantment creature (creature only at 5+ white devotion). Activated : another target creature gains lifelink until end of turn. Whenever you gain life: +1/+1 counter on target creature or enchantment. Combo piece with Ballista. The lifelink is an activated ability, not static.

(4 generic and three Phyrexian black), 2/2 lifelink, castable for 4 plus 6 life. For each black pip in any cost you may pay 2 life instead of the mana, and it gets a +1/+1 counter whenever you cast a black spell. A life-for-mana engine that dumps the black half of the deck out in one turn: Sanguine Bond, Exquisite Blood, Necropotence, Bolas's Citadel, Vilis, Toxic Deluge. The life spent is offset by the lifelink and the Soul Sisters, and every payment is life loss that Vilis turns into card draw. Spend life to combo, not to durdle. Display printing is the FF Through the Ages flavor card Emet-Selch, Ascian.

Fourth death trigger this turn transforms to 5/5 flier with a Blood Artist emblem. Sac outlet + drain + draw in one card. Teysa doubles the death triggers so two deaths transforms.

4/5 Phyrexian Praetor, deathtouch. Whenever you draw a card you gain 2 life; whenever an opponent draws a card they lose 2 life. A drain-on-a-body that taxes the table's card advantage. Every opponent draw costs them 2 and stacks with Smothering Tithe on the same trigger. Each of your own draws (The One Ring, Sensei's Divining Top, Esper Sentinel, Pact Weapon) gains you 2, which triggers Karlov for +2/+2 and becomes table drain when Sanguine Bond or Vito is out. Necropotence and Bolas's Citadel do not trigger it, since neither draws. Replaces Mentor of the Meek as a higher-impact draw payoff one pip up at 4 mana.

5/4. Whenever another creature dies, or a creature card is put into a graveyard from anywhere other than the battlefield, or a creature card leaves your graveyard, deals 1 damage to each opponent. : each player mills a card. A death-trigger reach payoff that burns every opponent at once, so a board wipe, a Toxic Deluge, or a Sephiroth sac chain becomes table-wide damage, doubled by Teysa Karlov. Not lifegain, so it does not pump Karlov or feed the drain loops, but it closes games the drain plan stalls on. The mill and Volrath's Stronghold or Sun Titan pulling a creature out of your graveyard both trigger it too.

The don't-lose-at-0 clause lets you pay life down to 0 and survive, backstopping Necropotence, Citadel, Mana Vault, and life-payment tutors. With Bloodthirsty Conqueror it drives the Aetherflux table-kill: pay 50 (survive at 0), deal 50 to an opponent, Conqueror refunds the 50, repeat.

2 artifact equipment. Equipped gets lifelink. When equipped creature dies, return it to the battlefield at the next end step. Equip 4. Lifelink on Karlov plus commander recursion with no command tax, keeps his counter pile alive.

With the Soul Sisters as fodder and Sephiroth or Diamond Valley as the sac outlet, every death becomes a table-wide edict that grinds opposing boards and protects your combo turn. Teysa Karlov doubles it, so one of your creature deaths makes each opponent sacrifice twice.

The gain is toughness-scaled, so sacrificing a high-toughness body (Vilis, Sun Titan) is a large life swing. Every activation is BOTH a lifegain event (loop ignition with any Sanguine-half plus Exquisite-half on board) AND a death-trigger detonation: Syr Konrad, Blood Artist, Zulaport, Bastion of Remembrance, and Grave Pact edicts all fire, doubled by Teysa Karlov. Also dodges targeted removal: sac the creature in response to a Swords or Path for value. Note: produces NO mana (sac ability only), which is the tradeoff for the free activation.

Land - Plains Swamp. : Add or . Enters tapped unless you control two or more basic lands, which with the remaining basics is nearly always true by turn two or three, so it is untapped early. Because it has the Swamp type it counts toward Cabal Coffers and triggers Crypt Ghast doubling when tapped for mana. It is not a basic land, but Marsh Flats searches for "a Plains or Swamp card" with no "basic" clause, so Marsh Flats can fetch it. Upgrade over a basic Plains: fixes both colors, feeds the black mana engines, and is still a fetch target.

Strict upgrade over a basic Plains here because it fixes both colors and protects the commander.

Legendary Land. : Add . , : Target legendary creature gains fear until end of turn (can't be blocked except by artifact and/or black creatures). Enables the Karlov commander-damage kill by making him nearly unblockable, and can also push through other legendary threats (an Ormendahl flip, a suited-up Cloak and Dagger). Taps for black on its own, so it replaces the cut Swamp's mana while adding the evasion ability. Comes in over a Swamp rather than a utility land to preserve color balance; black stays deep at 5 Swamps plus Urborg, Caves of Koilos, Shattered Sanctum, Multiversal Passage as Swamp, and Eclipsed Steppe.
